This Sunday, the 28th of June, I'll be participating in the Day of Architecture in Saxony.
With the title: The prison that liberates," I'll be dancing to improvised music from talented violinist Tina Laube in the balcony of the old prison in Meissen (Domplatz 4, 01662 Meissen). We'll be offering short 5-minute performances between 11:00 and 13:00.
I am very excited about this event because it marks the beginning of new dreams and visions. One of them will be my first performance together with Tina. Tina and I met two years ago, if I recall correctly, my Laban professor from the Palucca times asked me whether I could replace her for a monthly workshop session in Hellerau. These sessions are offered in Hellerau for elderly people, and they are guided improvisations with live music, one of my specialities ;)
Jeny told me I'd be meeting a new musician. When I arrived at Hellerau, Tina arrived soon after. I could feel an instant chemistry. The workshop session had an amazing flow, even though we had just met, it was as if she could read my mind artistically. She accompanied every task exactly as I liked.
We stayed in touch, she invited me to her performances, and I invited her to mine. We'd chat afterwards with fascination.
It was in May of 2025 when she told me she'd like us to collaborate.
Earlier this year, we arranged a meeting and improvised, and we found an immediate connection.
When I was asked whether I'd like to participate in the Day of Architecture, particularly in the project in the old Prison in Meissen,
I thought Tina would be perfect for this project!
The first of many :)
There is more to tell 'behind the scenes' about this particular project; for now, this is the story I'm sharing with you. Stay tuned.
The official announcement for the project 'The Prison that Liberates' is available here, in German only. One last hint I'll share with you is that the name for the event was given by a dear friend of mine: Olaf Lear.
