Yamile A. Navarro L., was born in Mexico City. She began her professional dance studies at the Agora Cultural Center Dance School in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico. Years later, she moved to Spain to continue her professional dance education in Barcelona. She graduated as a Classical Dancer from the Institut del Teatre in 2009, the same year, she enrolled the three-year Bachelor Program at the Palucca University of Dance in Dresden, Germany.
She graduated in 2012 presenting her Practical Thesis Work “In Nirelurgenrewop…En la Nada” as her first professional choreography.
She is now based in Dresden, and has been working as a freelance dancer guesting and collaborating with various companies and artists form all around the world. At the same time, she has been producing her own projects as a choreographer, using different dance styles and other scenic arts to give completeness to her work and enrich her ideas, not loosing the focus on dance and movement as the main source of expression.
Since the beginning of her dance studies, improvisation took a very important place in her development as an artist, and that reflects in her previous and current work.
In 2014 she joined TanzNetzDresden, a Dresden based network for freelance artists. In 2020 the network became a non-profit association, and she became part of the association board.
Five dancers, from different parts of the world: Germany, Spain, Mexico, Italy. All of them have a connection to Dresden, to dance, to art and the stage.
The dancers Larissa Potapov, Alicia Varela and Yamile Navarro studied together at the Palucca University of Dance for 3 years. After their graduation in 2012, they went their separate ways to meet again in 2017. After graduating, Yamile Navarro stayed in Dresden, a few years later she met the dancer and choreographer Kristin Mente and the dancer Cristina Bellia.
In 2017, some members of the group created the dance film "Dualidad sin sentido", which was presented as part of the LINIE08 evening "Connected Limits" in Hellerau EZK, where the choreographers Kristin Mente and Yamile Navarro also showed their own choreographies. In the same year, they started planning their next project, a dance piece about death and loss "Whispering Widows” with music by Tobias Herzz Hallbauer, which premiered in Hellerau EZK in October 2018. In November 2018 they were invited by the Cie. Freaks und Fremde to take part in the "Toten Fest" Festival at the Societätstheater, Dresden, where they showed the piece Whispering Widows in shorter sequences.
In 2019 they went to Portugal for a tour, for this tour they created a second version of the piece "Whispering Widows" and also collaborated with two musicians from Portugal to create the soundtrack of the piece.
This year they are planning a new dance project "SHE".
