Exploring New Horizons: Improvisation Practices in Unexpected Places

Lately, I've ventured on an exciting artistic journey that's been both inspiring and invigorating. Every week, I've been meeting with the incredibly talented Katrin Meingast. While she brings her magic to the cello, I take it to the dance floor. It all started because we'd been commissioned for a short performance on the 28th of September.

In mid-August, we had a spontaneous and delightful twist in our routine. A dear friend of ours, Rabea Stenger, came to visit, and in the spirit of spontaneity, we invited my mom, who was also visiting, to join us. What followed was an electric experience – a vibrant energy filled the room, and something clicked. In that moment a new idea sparked: Why limit our improvisations to the dance studio?

And so, we began to explore. We've taken our improvisation practices into various spaces, breaking free from the familiarity of the studio. The result? Phenomenal. There's something incredibly liberating about adapting our art to different environments, and it’s added a whole new dimension to our work.

For those on Instagram, we've been streaming our live sessions, inviting everyone into our creative process. It’s been a joy to share these moments with you all.

I’ve always believed in acting on great ideas as soon as they come, and this adventure has reinforced that belief. I hope this inspires you to take action on that one idea that's been floating around in your mind. Sometimes, all it takes is a little nudge to turn a thought into something extraordinary.
